My Old Art Part 1

Well... here we go again. Just another day in a tiny town with many things to think about.  So I was thinkin' bout my older art. Not anything extremely old, but that's just because I'm not that old, and also because my early stuff was scary. I mean S-C-A-R-Y!!! Boo, even!

No fears though, one day after you have all fallen prey to my maniacal scheme and become mesmerized by my art and just sit in front of your computer waiting for my art to be posted, then I will drag out some of the old stuff. Well... maybe when you have seen how really bad at art I am, out of pity you stop by every now and again to give me an ego boost.
I hope one day to be able to sell my art and continue to design. Thing is, while I want people to like and buy my art, I refuse to make up ridiculous stories about the way I see the world to sell it. Truth of it is, many social and daily things grab my attention, and therefore I illustrate them or am inspired to paint. That, however, is not always the case.

This painting is nothing more than me liking shapes and colors. No story for this one. Sorry!

Noisy Neighbors

Ok... Let's face it. This world is full of all sorts of people, and with that being the case, each one has their own idea of what's good or bad. Take my art, for instance. Each person will have their own reaction as to how it hits their palette.

That being said, I moved halfway around the world to find myself next to a family that feels that the term "Fin de Semana (Weekend)" translates into a 72 hr music and drinking festival. With that in mind, please take a look at one of my new illustrations. I hope you enjoy it. That is, assuming that it hits your taste buds just right.

Please note that I will try to have some of these available on www.etsy.com for sale soon in different formats, so please keep checking back.

Thanks

And it Begins with C-Bot

First off, I would like to say that for the two of you who have stumbled onto this blog, I apologize. Let me explain. It starts with me thinking it would be a GREAT idea to have a blog about all things really mod. Music, Clothing, Scootering, Architecture, and of course the ever elusive ART.

In retrospect these are tempting things to blog about, and if you have/make use of/buy out the time to search these things, you can find some awesome information on each one of the above-mentioned items. Well, the long and short of it is... I just didn't realize moving from the States to Chile, South America would take so much effort. I know... I know... how crazy am I?

For these reasons I just quit even trying to blog. That was until C-Bot and Crystal popped up in all their glory. See, I had been playing around with the idea of getting back into the whole art thing. Included would be some sculpting, painting, furniture design and graphic illustration. Like most other things, however, I just said, well... I'll get around to it later. So on a trip to Santiago my friend told me that he had some interest in printing some shirts with a brand and graphics for a clothing company that I had (once again) thought about starting. (Once again the whole Chile thing complicated things.) A little time has gone by and neither of us have bothered to talk to each other about it and that's that for now.

While looking at some
of my favorite MCM art sites (which I'll list at the end) I was once again inspired to start illustrating, doodling, dabbling or whatever. I know.... hold on, C-Bot is coming up. That just led to a few theoretical ideas and would have stayed as such until... that's right!.. C-Bot.

See my friend is a great guy and extremely interesting. With that being said he got engaged and that led to my illustrating a greeting card inspired by the ever quirkily interesting C-Bot and his FIANCEE, the ever lovely Crystal. While I had just generally been a bad friend, and not responded personally to his email about the engagement, I thought: "Hey! If I send this image to them I can show how great I think it is for them." Thing about it is... well, I just REALLY like this image. So here we are. I am putting my First New-style blog up.

As I get rid of the old style, which was not bad, I am starting anew with a better theme. ME! With that said, here is the first post of my new blog. Please keep checking back to see what's new and what I am offering up.

So not to be diminished, Congratulations C-Bot and Crystal!

Gone Lunar

In a decade when the word Lounge seems to be used more than ever, yet... incorrectly we find countless restuarants and clubs with calling themselves lounges but, with an atmosphere just shy of a frat party. The word LOUNGE seems to have lost is individuality. The whole feeling and though process that once was held in high asteem as a place to associate and relax is now confused with a party. However, never fear! We have in our midst the same people today in a modern form who, in thier own mind remember what it was suppost to be in the past with a excited look to the future.

Lunar Loung Design seems like a Mid-Century enough name that you may automactically associate it with some modern or retro furniture store. In a sense, that is exactly what it is. The difference in this situation is that Lunar Lounge Design is a company that inspires me, by being people after my own heart. Lunar Loung Design is not just a store that sales furniture (which is MCM by the way). It is a pure and painstaking self commitment of at least 2 people. Why do I mention painstaking?

Well... Both Colin and Jonathan are artist that have created a company that, through much trial and error have found designs that many people have a more than just an interest in. Their furniture is truly a vision for many people.

As is proclaimed on the Lunar Lounge Design website, these artist have been inspired by just about all things MCM vintage and..., it shines thru in all aspects. There are a number of peices that really grabbed my attention.

In the seating catagory I was instantly drawn to the Ply-Back Line. Encorporating the use of timeless materials such as hard wood and stainless steel along with appropriatley placed vinyl cushions, this line is the kind of texture that any MCM enthusiast definately wants to have. Lunar Lounge Design's Ply-Back line does more than present an interesting shape with good color. It brings a classic texture to the room in which it sits as, not just a piece of furniture but, also as a true piece of object art. Along with the Ply-Back line Lunar Lounge Design's also offers other classically Jet-Set styles.

Giving your room, home, office, or studio that Mid-Century feeling really is about more than just the seating. In line with this understanding, Lunar Lounge Designs provides a number of other items as well. They offer up a number of tables in the classic KIDNEY and BOOMA-RANG styles that offer a functional table with the simple and increadibly clean look that made Mid-Century Modern so famous. To accent the line of tables they offer other shapes that are also classic designs such as, the ELIPTIKAL, BOOMA-MID, BOOMA-END, PLY PIVOT, as well as wall storage systems and accessories.
